Effects of cell reversals during reconditioning

The use of deep discharge reconditioning to extend useful life of NiCd spacecraft batteries is discussed. However, such reconditioning can lead to cell reversals and the production of hydrogen. This study examines the nature and extent of hydrogen generation in several reversed cells of a spacecraft battery after a series of eight simulated deep discharge reconditioning cycles. 4 refs.
